World Marathon Majors

Peter O’Brien proves you’re never too old to start something new.

At age 50, Peter ran his first marathon, taking an interest in running after seeing his son David competing in triathlons.

Now aged 72, Peter has run marathons all over the world including Gold Coast, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo and Chicago and has no intention of giving up running anytime soon.

Living in Deniliquin, a small rural town in New South Wales, Australia, Peter is supported in his running journey by his wife Lynette and trains with his son David and daughter Michelle.

We spent a couple of days with Peter and his family in Deniliquin, capturing his story for Abbott World Marathon Majors.
